Field of Study

  • Your eligibility does not depend on your field of study or programme, so long as it is offered at the Host University. Please note that in the case of equally ranked applications, priority will be given to the student majoring in one of the fields of study prioritised by the EXPERTS projects (see Field of Studies)

Important Note on Eligibility for Additional Calls

Some countries were very strongly represented in the first round of applications, and their number of granted scholarships has already exceeded the allocated share. Due to the rules of the European Commission funded EMA2 programme, we must balance the number of scholarships given to grantees from eligible countries. As a result, this additional call for applications within EXPERTS - SUSTAIN is intended to address any current imbalances in scholarship distribution, hence scholarships are to be awarded only to candidates from countries currently under-represented in the projects (see table below). Thus, no further scholarships are planned to be awarded to candidates from any other country that is not listed in the table below.

Given the limited number of remaining SSEA scholarships, the eligibility criteria of both these additional calls are quite specific. Please read the tables below for more information.

  • In accordance with the EACEA guidelines for academic level and nationality distribution, Undergraduate and Group A (here Bangladesh and Afghanistan) nominations must be awarded in order for any other mobility levels to also be awarded. If no suitable Undergraduate or Group A candidates are found, no further nominations can be awarded since this will negatively impact on the scholarship distribution balances which must be at all times respected.

1 As the project has to meet its EMA2 requirements in terms of balanced national distribution, it seeks in these additional calls to award scholarships to    candidates from countries from which the project has currently very few Grantees (mentioned in the Call-specific Criteria above).

Therefore, nationals from Bhutan, China, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand are not eligible for Undergraduate, Master, Doctorate, and Staff scholarships in this call.

For further information on the current distribution of scholarships per country, please refer to the corresponding project webpage (SUSTAIN) .
